Crusaders are to be congratulated on taking the initiative and rolling out the first 4G playing surface in the top level of Northern Ireland football - the Carling Premiership. The north Belfast club are thew most forward-thinking of any of the twelve teams who play in that league - and have ambitious plans for a brand-new stadium a mere stones-throw from their current home- Seaview. Not the biggest club in local football, nevertheless Crusaders have a dedicated team of directors and coaching staff - and in Stephen Baxter - one of the most intuitive managers in the local game. Indeed if he so wished Baxter would be an asset to any football club anywhere but his business' interests make it unlikely he would consider moving out of Northern Ireland - to say Scotland or the Republic of Ireland - where unlike Northern Ireland many clubs have full-time proferssional players.
